Quick update
The summer has officially kicked off and Bryan and I don't see a free weekend anywhere on the horizon. Last weekend, we attended Brad & Sara's wedding. I posted a few pics under my picture heading, though you can just click here to see them. It was a meltingly hot day, but it wasn't raining and the ceremony was short and very nice. I got to meet the last of Bryan's friends from college, Jersey, who by his own admission, "isn't very funny," and Petit, who is a simple guy
"who goes with the flow". Despite the lack of jokes coming from their corner of the table (Jersey did serenade us with quite a few songs, which was amusing, and Petit made fun of his absent wife as often as possible, which amused himself), we had a great time. Congrats to the Gustavesens.
We've staunched the flow of movies coming into and out of our DVD player in exchange for Sox games, which have been pretty exciting of late. However, I am still hard at work compiling stats of books-to-movie ratios and the most "literary" directors - I should have those in a day or two.
This weekend we head to Gloucester to work on more wedding details and to maybe park our pastey butts on a beach for an hour or two of relaxation.
In news-related, um, news, somewhere there is a padded room weeping at the loss of the King of Pop's entry into its sweet security. Or maybe that sound is the collective voice of children everywhere who once again have to worry that the nice singing alien could bring them to his 'ranch' to play free willy. Ah, Michael, you were once an amazing, black entertainer. Now, you are the face of nightmares. I don't care if he's guilty or innocent, he is one fucked up individual who has used his celebrity to do things for which others really do get punished. I wonder who has custody of his three children.
Anyway, Katie Holmes has converted to the religion of the thetans - she is officially a Scientologist and will continue to weird out the world with her devotion to the automaton that has taken over Cruise's body.
Batman Begins comes out this week - I am actually looking forward to seeing this movie, though I probably will have to wait until it comes out on video since I still have to get Bryan to watch the 1989 movie.
Last thing, I started this post with the words "summer has officially kicked off," but I'm not so sure about that...the weatherman actually mentioned the arctic air blowing in from Canada last night. IT'S JUNE - arctic air is NOT allowed.

the padded room that weeps at the loss of michael jackson wasn't just any padded room- it was most likely going to be a room in the same complex that houses Sirhan Sirhan and Charles Manson. Apparently he would have had ample time to socialize and watch TV with them in the "day room", so his acquittal has robbed me of the opportunity to envision a wigless and makeup-less MJ fighting over the remote with Sirhan Sirhan or playing a friendly game of chess with Manson.
And for this, I weep.
What a tough crowd! Did you not dance to MJ's music?! He is proof that he had little if any maternal guidance (or paternal either), thank goodness Jill had plenty, look at how terrribly normal she turned out to be as a grown-up (yeah mom!).
